The entirety of the ball has step free access, but some paths are slightly uneven and may cause problems for wheelchair users. There will be an accessible toilet with a sharps box. There will also be gender neutral toilets. There will be seating available throughout the ball, ranging from basic chairs, to benches to bean bags. Heavy doors will be held open. Guide dogs are permitted into the ball. Soft drinks will be available at bars. There will be no firework performances during our ball.
The main stage can be accessed via viewing platforms at the side of the stage, please contact Mayball-President@homerton.cam.ac.uk before the event for us to put this in place. Much of our event takes place outside and on grass, and we are aware that this cannot be fully accessible, particularly to wheelchair users. There will be paths leading to each area of the ball, but please let us know if you have any questions about this by contacting Mayball-President@homerton.cam.ac.uk.
There is a hearing loop available in the rooms we will be using indoors. There is a quiet room available for anyone who needs it. This room will have no music, no harsh lights, seating and water, and medication can be administered here. Please approach a member of committee (identifiable via burgundy sashes) or security personnel to access this room. All personnel hired by the May Ball committee will be trained by us on how to keep the ball accessible, and how to deal with any access needs disclosures. There is no parking available on site.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Mayball-President@homerton.cam.ac.uk for more information.
